ABS Rebar
Couplers

The modern, engineered alternative to lap splicing. ABS mechanical rebar couplers create a full-strength mechanical splice between TMT bars — ensuring precise load transfer, reducing steel wastage, and eliminating rebar congestion at construction joints.
Available for TMT bars from 12mm to 40mm. Manufactured from EN8D grade steel with 115%+ of Grade 500 characteristic strength. Compliant with IS 16172:2014.
Mechanical Splicing for Modern Construction
Rebar couplers are precision-engineered mechanical devices that connect two reinforcing bars end-to-end, creating a full-strength splice without the need for lap lengths, welding, or bar overlapping. They are the globally preferred alternative to traditional lap splicing.
Each coupler consists of an internally threaded steel sleeve that receives threaded or prepared rebar ends. Once connected, the coupler transfers the full tensile and compressive load from one bar to the next — maintaining 100% structural continuity across the joint.
ABS rebar couplers are manufactured from EN8D grade steel with a carbon composition of 0.40–0.45, delivering enhanced tensile strength. Every coupler achieves 115%+ of Grade 500 characteristic strength — exceeding the parent bar's capacity.

Six Types. Every Application Covered.
From standard threaded connections to specialized precast grouted joints — we manufacture the right coupler for every structural requirement.
Tapered Threaded Coupler
The most widely used coupler type. Self-aligning tapered threads provide a rapid, secure connection with positive locking. Cold-forged tapered threads on the rebar ends screw into the internally tapered coupler sleeve, delivering consistent performance and easy installation.
- Self-aligning tapered threads
- No torque wrench required
- Rapid on-site installation
- Positive locking mechanism
Parallel Roll Threaded Coupler
Precision-cut parallel threads created using a roller threading machine. Threads are rolled onto the rebar without cutting into the core — maintaining full cross-section and ductility of the reinforcing bar. Ideal for applications requiring high alignment accuracy.
- Full ductility of TMT bar maintained
- No material removal from rebar
- High alignment accuracy
- Consistent torque specifications
Cold Forged Coupler
Rebar ends are enlarged through cold forging and then threaded, ensuring the threaded section is stronger than the parent bar. Proven performance under compression, tension, cyclic, and fatigue loads — making it the coupler of choice for seismic zones.
- Enlarged rebar ends for stronger threads
- Superior seismic performance
- Handles cyclic & fatigue loads
- Threaded area stronger than parent bar
Hydraulic Crimping Coupler
Uses cold extrusion hydraulic press technology to connect two non-threaded rebars on-site. A steel sleeve is placed over the bar ends and crimped using a portable hydraulic power pack — no threading required, ideal for repair and retrofit applications.
- No threading required
- Portable hydraulic power pack
- Ideal for repairs & retrofits
- Quick on-site installation
Bolted Coupler
Designed to connect two reinforcing bars end-to-end when one bar is already cast in place or when space limitations prevent other coupling methods. Shear bolts clamp the bars securely within the coupler body — no special preparation needed.
- No rebar preparation needed
- Works with cast-in-place bars
- Simple shear bolt mechanism
- Space-constrained applications
Grouted Coupler (GroutFit)
Specially designed for precast concrete connections. One end is threaded to receive a pre-threaded bar, while the other end is a hollow cavity that accepts an unthreaded bar secured with high-strength, non-shrink grout — the standard for precast-to-precast and precast-to-cast-in-situ connections.
- Precast connection specialist
- One threaded + one grouted end
- High-strength non-shrink grout
- Precast-to-cast-in-situ joints
ABS Threaded Transition Coupler
The ABS Threaded Transition (TT) coupler is our flagship specialty product — designed to join TMT bars of different diameters. A solution not available from most competitors, the TT coupler is essential for modern structural engineering.
- Joins TMT bars of different diameters seamlessly
- Failure load > 115% of Grade 500 characteristic strength (smaller bar)
- Ideal for column-to-beam transitions and structural step-downs
- Cold-forged tapered threads for rapid, positive-locking installation
- Eliminates wasteful bar bending and overlapping at diameter changes
- Tested and validated by independent labs (IIT, Bureau Veritas)

Why Couplers Over Lap Splicing?
Mechanical splicing outperforms traditional lap splicing in every measurable way — cost, speed, quality, and structural performance.
Save Up to 20% Steel
Eliminate lap lengths entirely. Couplers require no overlapping bars — saving up to 20% of rebar material on every connection and reducing overall project costs.
Reduce Rebar Congestion
Clean mechanical connections with no overlapping bars. Improved concrete flow, better compaction, and elimination of honeycomb cavities in congested reinforcement zones.
Faster Construction
Quick mechanical connections vs. time-consuming lap tying and welding. Accelerate your construction schedule — each connection takes minutes, not hours.
Superior Structural Integrity
Precise load transfer from bar to bar with 115%+ of Grade 500 characteristic strength. Maintains full continuity of the reinforcement chain across joints.
Easy Quality Control
Straightforward visual and torque-based inspection. No destructive testing required. Simplified QC procedures compared to welded or lapped connections.
Simple Installation
Most coupler types require no special equipment or torque wrenches. Operable by semi-skilled labor after basic training, reducing deployment costs.
Standard Coupler Dimensions
All dimensions are for standard tapered threaded couplers. Custom sizes and transition couplers available on request.
